"I don’t hear much these days to save the generally anemic world of cabaret from muted denseness—especially in the male-vocalist division. Mr. Holmes is certainly one of the sharp musical exceptions. He can croon. He can wail. His sense of time is thrilling. He can build a tempo with temple-throbbing passion, then waft his way through a ballad with dreamy intonation. This is one train I plan to catch again—and often."

Most recently produced by DeepEnd Productions and staged at The McCarter Theater Center's Berlind Theater in Princeton, New Jersey, Stop This Train, features Clint Holmes, longtime Las Vegas headliner and established New York cabaret star with a reputation reaffirmed as recently as this past fall when his latest show, Stop This Train, was awarded the 2013 Broadway.com Cabaret Award for Best Celebrity Male Vocalist.   This staging of Stop This Train, built on the 2013 cabaret at Cafe Carlyle developed to include scenic elements and a cast of actors and dancers.

The title of his show is based on a John Mayer song and is autobiographical. Mr. Holmes meditates on the imprints left both by one’s childhood home (his was Buffalo) and venturing out into the wider world. Mr Holmes, whom The New York Times has called the “thinking man’s lounge singer,” is 67 but exhibits the stamina and drive of a dynamo half his age.  His deep affection for Paris is reflected in a group of songs related to France and sung in both French and English. In these, he creates a deeper and more intimate connection between performer and audience than is possible in any other medium. Featuring a Guest Appearances by Grammy Award-Winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum and Lincoln Center Jazz's Christian Tamburr.
